MEAN to host electric utility safety roundtable discussions

The Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska will host a series of informal safety roundtable discussions for MEAN wholesale power utilities in mid-June at three locations in Nebraska.

MEAN Electrical Distribution O&M Specialists Matt Edwards and Rich Eyemann will host the no-cost sessions that will focus on electric utility safety challenges and best practices. Topics will include, but are not limited to:

  • Near misses and lessons learned
  • Safety when operating equipment
  • Work procedures and field practices
  • Safety issues your utility has encountered
  • Any other concerns affecting safety and operations

The dates and locations are:

  • June 17 – West Point, Neb.
  • June 18 – Gering, Neb.
  • June 23 – Imperial, Neb.

The no-cost sessions are expected to last a couple hours. The goal of the sessions are to communicate and collaborate with neighboring utilities, share experiences and discuss common challenges facing electric utility departments.

Utility leadership and lineworkers are encouraged to attend and participate, emphasizing the importance to safety and the value of learning from one another to help ensure a safe working environment for lineworkers.
