MEAN's Operational Footprint
In providing wholesale power supply to more than 60 municipal communities, the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska's operational footprint stretches across four states: Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming.
As a result of this large regional footprint, MEAN is a participant in two Regional Transmission Organizations and three balancing authorities that operate, control and monitor the bulk electric power grid across large multi-state regions in North America. These entities also manage competitive wholesale power markets, ensuring reliable power supply, equal transmission access and grid efficiency. MEAN is a participant in:
- The Southwest Power Pool (SPP) East and West Balancing Authorities
- The MidContinent Independent System Operator (MISO)
- The Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCO)
