The city of Fairbury, Neb., has an opening for a full-time water employee to assist with the City’s Water Department, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Duties include but are not limited to assisting the Water and Wastewater Departments with projects. The Water Service Employee will aid in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the city water and sewer systems, including but not limited to the City’s water pumps, wells, tanks, water treatment facilities, and related equipment. The position will perform duties relating to water quality, including water quality sampling to ensure the system complies with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to backhoe and skid steer. Candidates must be able to use verbal and written directions, work safely, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. The position may also assist other departments as necessary.  On-the-job training will be provided. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history, be physically able to perform manual labor, safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance, and safely perform repetitive physical tasks.
