NMPP Energy Executive Director Gary Stauffer was re-selected to serve on the American Public Power Association’s Executive Committee for 2010-11 during the APPA National Conference in Orlando June 23. Stauffer served on the committee in 2009-10.
The Executive Committee consists of officers and selected members from APPA’s board of directors. Stauffer, who has served on the board since 2006, was selected for the Executive Committee by newly-elected APPA Board Chair Lonnie Carter, president and CEO of Santee Cooper Electric Utility, based in Moncs Corner, S.C.
APPA is the non-profit service organization for the nation’s more than 2,000 municipal and other local publicly owned electric utilities that serve more than 45 million Americans. It establishes policies for the association and meets regularly four times annually. The organization advances the public policy interests of its members and their consumers and provides member services to ensure adequate, reliable electricity at a reasonable price with proper protection of the environment.
“Utilities across the country today face many challenges,” said Stauffer. “I look forward to continuing working with my industry colleagues to find ways to benefit all public power electric utilities and meet the needs of the customers they serve.”
Along with his service on the APPA Executive Committee, Stauffer also serves on the APPA Blue Ribbon Climate Change Task Force and the APPA Hometown Connections board of directors. He has been with NMPP Energy since November 2003.
