Central City's Chris Anderson earns service award

NMPP Energy awarded Chris Anderson, city administrator for the City of Central City, Neb., with the Bob Arraj Innovative Service Award at its 34th Annual Meeting and Conference in North Platte, Neb., March 25.

The award is presented annually to an official or employee of a Nebraska Municipal Power Pool (NMPP) member utility system who has excelled in the area of service and/or used innovative technological changes in the utility industry. The award is a memorial tribute to Bob Arraj, former city administrator and utilities superintendent of Kimball, Neb. Arraj’s years of knowledge, insight and expertise in the energy field allowed NMPP members to benefit from numerous innovative energy and service projects. The award includes a $350 gift that will be given to a local community project in Anderson’s name.

Anderson began his work for the City in 2003. He has assisted on many projects to benefit the city, including a new ethanol plant, municipal swimming pool, additional soccer fields, recreational trail, and new housing for the city.

Anderson is active in NMPP Energy by serving as vice chair of the National Public Gas Agency, the wholesale natural gas supply organization of NMPP Energy. He also serves as a member of the Joint Operating Committee for the four organizations of NMPP Energy.

Anderson also is active in the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce and the local economic development corporation.

Central City became a member of the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool in 1981 and a member of the National Public Gas Agency in 1991.
