MEAN Executive Committee approves increasing cap in distributed generation policy

December 30, 2019

The Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska Executive Committee at the November MEAN Board meeting approved modifying MEAN’s Renewable Distributed Generation Policy by raising the cap on production from total requirement participant-owned renewable distributed generation (DG) projects.

The policy’s cap was increased from two percent to five percent production or 100 kilowatts, whichever is greater, of the participant’s three-year historical average annual kilowatt-hour load served by MEAN.

The policy allows for the integration of smaller, local renewable projects for MEAN long-term total requirement participants while still fulfilling obligations under MEAN’s total requirements power supply contracts. The policy is part of MEAN’s Asset Management Policies and Procedures.
